PINITO, Bishop of Knossos, Saint. - He is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 10 October, but it is not established that he had a cult in antiquity.

According to Eusebius, he was bishop under Marcus Aurelius and Commodus; it seems that he wished to impose on his faithful a very rigid standard of life, especially with regard to continence, for which reason Dionysius of Corinth exhorted him by letter to moderation in consideration of human weakness. In his reply, according to Eusebius, there shone through his faith, his solicitude for the good of his people and his knowledge of divine things, but he exhorted Dionysius to nourish the people with a more severe doctrine, so that they might not fall into laxity.
