RACOVIA, CATECHISMO DI

RACOVIA, Catechism of. - Fundamental text of the Socinians (v. SOCINI), published in Polish at Racovia (Rakau in Poland) in 1605, reprinted in German in 1608 and in Latin in 1609 with some changes.

It is a true treatise of antitrinitarian theology, divided into eight sections; in the fourth, dedicated to the person of Jesus Christ, it affirms that he can be called God, because after his Resurrection he had all power in heaven and on earth, but that in him there is no divine nature. The C. of R. is currently replaced by the Manual of Unitarian Belief by James Freeman Clarke, a disciple of Channing.
