RECHERCHES DE THÉOLOGIE ANCIENNE ET MÉDIÉVALE. - A quarterly periodical, founded at Louvain in 1929 under the care of the Abbey of Mont César.

The field chosen for strictly scientific studies and contributions was deliberately concentrated on the history of Western theology from the age of Tertullian to that of the Council of Trent (c. 1560). Within these limits the history of theology includes the study of the religious doctrines of individual authors or of the various ages; the problems of philosophy, history, etc., that have a bearing on a religious doctrine. In addition to articles and notes, the journal offers unpublished texts, reviews of works, and an annual bulletin of publications that have appeared on the subject.
