SALESIANES OF THE SACRED HEARTS. - Founded in Lecce in 1884 by Fr. Filippo Smaldone for the assistance and education of deaf-mute and blind women.
They obtained the decree of praise and temporary approval of their Constitutions on 30 Nov. 1915, and definitive approval on 5 Apr. 1925. They number 38 houses and 308 sisters.
