SAN FILIPPO (SAN FELIPE), DIOCESE of. — Diocese and city in the province of Aconcagua, in the Republic of Chile (South America).
It has an area of 15,000 sq. km., with a population of 135,000, of whom 13,250 are Catholics; it has 24 parishes served by 40 diocesan priests and 23 religious priests; it has a seminary; 8 male and 15 female religious communities (Ann. Pont. 1952, p. 352).
The diocese was established by Pius XI by the apostolic constitution Apostolici numeris, of 18 October 1925, as a suffragan of Santiago del Cile.
