SAN FILIPPO (SAN FELIPE), DIOCESE OF. - Diocese and city in the province of Aconcagua, in the Republic of Chile (South America).
It has an area of 15,000 sq. km., with a population of 135,000 inhabitants, of whom 13,250 are Catholic; it comprises 24 parishes served by 40 diocesan priests and 23 regular clergy; it has a seminary; 8 male religious communities and 15 female ones (Ann. Pont. 1952, p. 352).
The diocese was erected by Pius XI with the apostolic constitution Apostolici muneris, dated 18 Oct. 1925, as a suffragan of Santiago de Chile.
