STUDIES

STUDIES. - A quarterly periodical founded in Dublin in 1912 by the Jesuits of the Irish Province, with the subtitle An Irish Quarterly Review of Letters, Philosophy and Science.

Taking advantage of the new regulations of the University of Dublin, the Jesuits wished to offer educated readers a publication that did not previously exist, one that would address university disciplines with articles by professors and graduates chosen even outside the Order. The main subjects covered are: modern universal literature, aesthetic, classical and oriental topics, questions of history, philosophy, sociology and education, and experimental sciences. To these, in individual issues, are added a bulletin of recent publications on specific topics, notes on particular subjects of academic interest, and reviews of the most important works.
