TEXTE UND UNTERSUCHUNGEN ZUR GESCHICHTE DER ALTSCHRISTLICHEN LITERATUR. – A series of texts relating to the history of ancient Christian literature and of philological and historical studies concerning them.
It was begun by Adolfo von Harnack (iv.), together with O. von Gebhardt, who was succeeded by Ch. Schmidt, in Leipzig in 1882, reaching, by 1952, a total of 57 volumes, divided into 4 series. HARAN (v.) conceived this series of studies as a simultaneously philological and historical foundation on which to construct his Geschichte der altschristlichen Literatur bis Eusebius. The series of the T. u. U. rendered great service through the publication of many ancient Christian texts that were either wholly unpublished or poorly edited. Nicola Turchi
