VEGHE, JOANNES. - Representative of the "Devotio Moderna," born in Münster (Germany) in 1431 or 1432, died in Niesink in 1504.
He entered the Brethren of the Common Life in Münster in 1451. In 1460, he established the house in Rostock. In 1475, he was elected the sixth rector of the mother house in Deventer, where in 1478 he built a new church. During his leadership, many beautiful books were transcribed. From 1481, he served as rector of the sisters at the monastery in Niesink. Twenty-four of his sermons and four devotional treatises are known, including *Lectulus noster floridus*, published by H. Rademacher (Hiltrup 1938).
