WEWAK, Apostolic Vicariate of. - By a decree of 15 May 1952, the ecclesiastical territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Central New Guinea was detached and erected into the Apostolic Prefecture of Aitape, entrusted to the Australian Franciscans.
