ADALBERONE, II, bishop of METZ. — Son of Federico, duke of Upper Lorraine, and of Beatrice, niece of Adalberone I. He was elected bishop of Metz on 16 October 984 and consecrated on 28 December of the same year. He built and restored many monasteries; he left a great reputation for holiness, and many martyrologies celebrate his name with the title of blessed. He died on 14 December 1005.
