ADALBERONE, VESCOVO DI LAON

ADALBERO, Bishop of Laon. - B. ca. the middle of the 10th century, d. in 1030. He was a disciple of Gerbert, the future Sylvester II. For his learning and eloquence, he was elected bishop in 977. He then had disputes with his old master, who had become his metropolitan. He engaged in politics and wrote a satirical poem (PL 141, 767-822; newly edited in the Biblioth. de la Fac. de Lettres de Paris, 13 [1901], pp. 129-84, edited by G. A. Hückel).
