ALFONSO XI, RE DI CASTIGLIA E DI LEÓN

ALFONSO XI, king of Castile and León. B. 1311, d. 1350. He was called the Justicier for his terrible vengeance against his enemies, but his passion for Eleanor of Guzmán and for their natural children brought discord to the kingdom. He was very fortunate in the war against the Moors, on whom he won the victory of Salado, a mortal blow to Islam (1340).
