Andrea, Fulvio

ANDREA, FULVIO. - Archaeologist, of Sabine origin, he lived in Rome in the first half of the 16th century.

He first treated the topography of the City in a short poem in hexameters, Antiquaria Romana (Rome 1514); then, following in the footsteps of Biondo (v.), he composed on the same subject an extensive treatise, Antiquitates Urbis (Rome 1527 and then often reprinted). In the fourth book there is a chapter De coemeteris, of which he gives us a list of 15, different from the preceding ones; the fifth book contains a chapter De basilicis et templis sub christiano vita excitatis, with a very rich list of churches.
