AUDACE

AUDACE. — Known only from the Augustinian correspondence (PL 33, 1075–77; ed. Goldbacher in CSEL, 57, pp. 616–618). He had asked s. Agostino for a lengthy composition, summarizing his letter in five hexameters; the Saint replied by apologizing, declining the praise, and amiably pointing out the defects of the few verses, the last of which had seven feet.
