AUDACE. - Known only from the Augustinian epistolary (PL 33, 1075-77; ed. Goldbacher in CSEL, 57, pp. 616-618). He had asked St. Augustine for a long piece of writing, summarizing his letter in 5 hexameters; the Saint replies apologizing, declining the praise and amiably pointing out the defects of the few verses, of which the last counted 7 feet.
