BABYLON OF THE SYRIANS. — In 1790 a Sino-Catholic archbishop was erected at Baghdad with the title of B. and jurisdiction over the region of Baghdad, Mosul and Basra. In 1862 a separate diocese was founded at Mosul. There are 3,414 faithful, 7 priests, 4 parishes and 2 schools.
