Babylonia of the Syrians

BABILONIA of the Syrians. — In 1790 a Syriac Catholic archbishopric was established at Bagdad under the title of B. and with jurisdiction over the region of Bagdad, Mossul, and Bassora. In 1862 a separate diocese was founded at Mossul. There are 3,414 faithful, 7 priests, 4 parishes, and 2 schools.
