BAR SŪDAJLĒ, STEFANO. - Syriac Monophysite writer, b. at Edessa in the second half of the 5th century. He later lived as a monk in his native city. In his youth he spent some time in Egypt, where he became acquainted with the doctrines of Origen, which he later developed in a pantheistic sense. Driven from his homeland because of his errors, he found refuge in a monastery in Palestine. His principal work, still unpublished, is: The Book on the Hidden Mysteries of the House of God, which he attributed to a certain Hierotheus, who was supposedly the teacher of Pseudo-Dionysius.
