BAR SUDAJLĒ, STEFANO. - A Syriac Monophysite writer, born at Edessa in the second half of the 5th century. Later he lived as a monk in his native city. In his youth he spent some time in Egypt, where he became acquainted with the teachings of Origen, which he later developed in a pathetic sense. Driven from his homeland because of his errors, he took refuge in a monastery in Palestine. His principal work, still unpublished, is: The Book on the Hidden Mysteries of the House of God, which he attributed to a certain Hierotheus, who is said to have been the teacher of the pseudo-Dionysius.
