BAR SŪDAJLĒ, STEFANO. – A Syrian Monophysite writer, born in Edessa in the second half of the fifth century. He later lived as a monk in his native city. In his youth he spent some time in Egypt, where he became acquainted with the doctrines of Origen, which he later developed in a pantheistic direction. Expelled from his homeland because of his errors, he found refuge in a monastery in Palestine. His principal work, still unpublished, is: The Book on the Hidden Mysteries of the House of God, which he attributed to a certain Hieroteo, who is said to have been the teacher of Pseudo-Dionysius.
