BAIOLE, ANDRÉ. - Theologian, b. at Condom in 1590, Jesuit from 1608, d. at Avignon in 1660, he published in Paris in 1649 a treatise on La vie intérieure où il est traité de trois entretiens de l'âme avec Dieu, that is, on meditation, affective prayer, and contemplation according to the teaching of Fr. L. Lalle-mant (v).
His brother JEAN-JÉRÔME, b. at Condom in 1588, Jesuit from 1604, d. at Périgueux in 1653, was director of the holy bishop Alano di Solminihac; he is the author of Considérations ou méditations... pour tous les jours de l'an (Poitiers 1637). An anonymous booklet, but certainly his, Traité pour conduire les âmes à l'étroite union d'amour avec Dieu (Paris 1646), was placed on the Index during the Quietist controversies.
