BEANI, GAETANO

BEANI, GAETANO. — Priest and historian, born on 23 July 1836 in Pisa, died on 13 February 1912 in Pistoia. He studied in Florence, Livorno, and Pistoia. Ordained in 1859, in 1867 he became parish priest of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Pistoia, where he exercised his ministry with zeal and love until his death.

As a scholar, he devoted himself with particular success to the ecclesiastical history of Pistoia (I vescovi di Pistoia e Prato dell'anno 1732 al 1871. Notizie biografiche, Pistoia 1881; La Chiesa pistoiese dalla sua origine ai tempi nostri, there 1883, which also had a 2nd ed. in 1912).
