ANDREA BELTRAMI. — Salesian, born in Omegna (Novara) on 24 June 1870, died at Valsalice (Turin) on 30 December 1897. Having attended the gymnasium at the Lanzo boarding school, he entered the Society in 1886, where he practiced especially humility and penance. In 1891 he contracted a painful tuberculosis, resistant to two years of treatment. The sufferings, offered in a spirit of universal propitiation, did not prevent him from writing. He left eighteen edifying works, some of which enjoyed wide success. In 1920 his cause was introduced in Rome.
