BELTRAMI, ANDREA. – Salesian, born in Omegna (Novara) on 24 June 1870, died at Valsalice (Turin) on 30 December 1897. After attending the grammar school at the Lanzo boarding school, he entered the Society in 1886, where he practiced humility and penance in particular. In 1891 he contracted a painful form of tuberculosis, which resisted two years of treatment. His sufferings, offered in a spirit of universal propitiation, did not prevent him from writing. He left eighteen edifying booklets, some of them widely successful. In 1920 his cause was introduced in Rome.
