Beltrami, Andrea

BELTRAMI, ANDREA. - Salesian, b. at Omegna (Novara) on 24 June 1870, d. at Valsalice (Turin) on 30 Dec. 1897. Having attended the gymnasium at the boarding school of Lanzo, he entered the Society in 1886, and there practiced especially humility and penance. In 1891 he contracted a painful tuberculosis, resistant to two years of treatment. His sufferings, offered in a spirit of universal propitiation, did not prevent him from writing. He left eighteen edifying short works, some of them widely successful. In 1920 his cause was introduced in Rome.
