BERTOT, Abbé. – French priest, born in Normandy around 1620, a friend of Jean de Bernières and deceased in 1681, he was one of Guyon (v.).
His posthumous work, Le directeur mystique (4 vols., Cologne, but in reality in the Netherlands, 1729), exalts the “prayer of pure and bare faith”; yet, since the work seems to have been published under the care of Guyon, it is
difficult to know to what extent she respected the author’s thought.
