BILDT, CARL NILS DANIEL. — Swedish diplomat and historian, b. in Stockholm on 15 May 1850, d. on 26 January 1931 in Rome. Ambassador of Sweden to the Quirinal from 1889 to 1902 and from 1905 to 1920, he devoted particular attention to Queen Christina, consulting many Italian and foreign archives, especially the Vatican Archives.
Among his works we recall: Christine de Suède et le Cardinal Azzolino (Paris 1899); Christine de Suède et le Conclave de Clément X (there 1906); Cristina di Svezia e Paolo Giordano II duca di Bracciano (in Archivio della Società Romana di Storia Patria, 29, [1906], pp. 5–32).
