BOULDUC (BOULDUC), Jacques. - Capuchin of the Paris province, possibly belonging to the Parisian family of Jean-Baptiste B., of the Academy of Sciences at the end of the 17th century. He made his religious profession on 18 August 1581, was a lecturer in theology, in 1590 definitor provincial, and then superior of various convents; in 1620 he returned to scholarly pursuits; died in Paris on 8 September 1646.
In biblical exegesis B. distinguished himself through various publications, avoiding artificial and forced interpretations: *Commentaria in librum Iob* (the first 21 chapters; Paris 1619, complete: ibid. 1637); *Expositio in epistolam B. Judae Apostoli, in qua similia secundae B. Petri Apostoli verba pariter expenduntur* (ibid. 1620); *De Ecclesia ante legem libri tres* (Lyons 1626 and Paris 1630); *De Ecclesia post legem liber unus anagogicus* (ibid. 1630); *De orgio christiano libri tres: ...enchafristiae typica mysteria* (Lyons 1640). These last three works are all centered on comparisons and analogies between Mosaic law and institutions of nature and those of Christianity.
