Bottazzo, Luigi

BOTTAZZO, LUIGI. - Musician, b. at Presina on 9 July 1845, d. at Padua on 29 Dec. 1924. Having become blind at the age of nine, he soon devoted himself successfully to sacred music. He was organist at the Institute for the Blind in Padua, where he had studied, at the basilica of the Santo from 1872, and professor of organ at the Royal Musical Institute. He wrote masses, motets, hymns, and pieces for organ. With Oreste Ravanello he published the method L'Organista di Chiesa and other didactic works; he also edited the edition of organ works by ancient and modern authors.
