BOYVIN, JEAN-GABRIEL. – Theologian of the Friars Minor Recollects, born at Vire in Normandy in the first half of the seventeenth century, died before 1681. He devoted his life to teaching and to the study of Scotus, and became a jubilarian lector and an eminent Scotist.
Two noteworthy theological-philosophical works are owed to him: Theologia Scoti a prolíxitate et subtilitas eius ab obscuritate libera et vindicata (Paris 1664) and Philosophia Scoti a prolíxitate et subtilitas eius ab obscuritate libera et vindicata (there, 1678). Both went through several editions, most of them prepared by his confrères.
