BOYVIN, JEAN-GABRIEL. - Theologian of the Recollect Friars Minor, born in Vire in Normandy in the first half of the 17th century, died before 1681. He spent his life in teaching and studying Scotus, becoming a jubilee lector and a distinguished Scotist.
Two notable theological-philosophical works are attributed to him: *Theologia Scoti a prolixitate et subtilitas eius ab obscuritate libera et vindicata* (Paris 1664) and *Philosophia Scoti a prolixitate et subtilitas eius ab obscuritate libera et vindicata* (ibid. 1678). Both works had several editions, largely edited by his confreres.
