BRUCKNER, ANTON. – Composer, born in Ansfelden on 4 September 1824, died in Vienna on 11 October 1896. A celebrated symphonist and organist, deeply devout, he wrote, among other works, three Masses, including the very well-known Missa solemnis, 9 symphonies, various motets, a Te Deum, an Ecce Sacerdos, all compositions of the highest inspiration.
