BRUCKNER, Anton. — Composer, b. at Ansfelden on 4 Sept. 1824, d. at Vienna on 11 Oct. 1896. A celebrated symphonist and organist, deeply believing, he wrote, among other works, three Masses, including the well-known Missa solemnis, nine symphonies, various motets, a Te Deum, an Ecce Sacerdos, all compositions of the highest inspiration.
