BRUMEL, ANTON. - Flemish musician, b. c. 1480, d. after 1540. A contemporary of Desprès (v.) and a pupil of Okeghem (v.), five masses for 4 and 6 voices published by Petrucci in 1503 remain from him, as well as various motets and songs found in manuscript in the libraries of Munich, Bologna, and Milan. Three copies of the great 12-voice mass *Et ecce terrae* exist, in Vienna, Munich, and Paris.
