«CAELESTIS AGNI NUP-TIAS». — Hymn of the Vespers of s. Giuliana de' Falconieri (v). It is in the form of a prayer and recalls several episodes from the Saint’s life. The elegance of the form is not always matched by poetic inspiration, since it is a cold narration of the most salient events of a life of lofty mysticism, and because the author, Francesco Lorenzini, drew too heavily on the hymn for the feast of s. Teresa di Gesù, to the point of reproducing several verses in their entirety. It was inserted into the Breviary in 1738.
