CAELESTIS AGNI NUP-TIAS

CAELESTIS AGNI NUPTIAS. - Hymn of Vespers of St. Juliana Falconieri (v.). It is in the form of a prayer and recalls certain episodes in the life of the Saint. The elegance of the form is not always matched by poetic inspiration, since it is a cold narration of the most salient facts of a life of high mysticism and because the author, Francesco Lorenzini, drew too heavily on the hymn of the feast of St. Teresa of Jesus, even reproducing some verses from it in full. It was inserted into the Breviary in 1738.
