In a Sapphic stanza that unfolds with agility and harmony, the few passages of the Gospel in which the action of the holy Patriarch appears are recalled. The first stanza addresses him as the ornament of heaven, the hope of our life, and the salvation of the world, prefiguring his declaration as Patron of the universal Church, made by Pio IX.
