«CAELO REDEMPTOR PRAETULIT». — Hymn of Matins for the feast of the Maternity of the Madonna. It is found in a Portuguese breviary of 1700, and only in 1931 did Pius XI, in commemoration of the centenary of the Council of Nicaea, include it in the Roman Breviary together with the office of the Maternity, whose feast was extended to the universal Church. Its substance is expository in a precise and dogmatic form.
