CAMDEN, Diocese of. - In the State of New Jersey (U.S.A.), a suffragan of Newark, it comprises the counties of Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem.
It was erected on 9 Dec. 1937, by the division of that of Trenton, and assigned, on the following 10 Dec., to the ecclesiastical province of Newark, created on the same day.
It has an area of 7,500 sq km. It counts 139,479 Catholics out of 696,489 inhabitants under the direction of 121 priests, of whom 21 are religious; there are 90 churches and 63 parishes (1948).
