CARRARA, UBERTINO. - Born at Sora in 1642, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1656 and taught rhetoric for 23 years at the Roman College, where he died in 1716. A member of the Academy of the Arcadians, under the name Eudossio Pauntino, he acquired a certain fame for the composition and public recitation of occasional poems. He is better known only for his epic on the discovery of America: Columbus, carmen epicum (Rome 1715, various reprints).
