CARRARA, UBERTINO. – Born in Sora in 1642, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1656 and taught rhetoric for 23 years at the Roman College, where he died in 1716. A member of the Accademia degli Arcadi, under the name of Eudossio Pauntino, he acquired a certain fame through the composition and public recitation of occasional poems. He is known chiefly for his epic on the discovery of America: Columbus, carmen epicum (Rome 1715, various reprints).
