CARRARA, UBERTINO. - Born in Sora in 1642, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1656 and taught rhetoric for 23 years at the Roman College, where he died in 1716. A member of the Accademia degli Arcadi under the name Eudossio Pauntino, he gained some renown for composing and publicly reciting occasional poems. He is best known solely for his epic poem on the discovery of America: *Columbus, carmen epicum* (Rome 1715, various reprints).
