CAVAGNA, GIOVANNI BATTISTA. — Architect and painter, born in Rome ca. 1550, died in Loreto in 1613.
A member of the Accademia di S. Luca, he worked in Rome and Naples, where he built the church and convent of S. Gregorio Armeno, and the choir of the church of Monteoliveto. Architect of the Santa Casa of Loreto from 1605, he continued the construction of the papal palace and drew up the plans for the church of S. Pietro in Valle in Fano, and for the municipal palace with the Loggia dell'Arlingo in Ascoli Piceno.
