CHIERICATO (CLERICATUS), GIOVANNI

CHIERICATO (Clericatus), GIOVANNI. – Theologian and canonist of the Congregation of the Oratory, born in Padua on 8 September 1633, died in the same city on 29 December 1727. He held various ecclesiastical offices and was also vicar general of Blessed Gregorio Barbarigo.

He left the following deservedly esteemed works: De virtute et sacramento poenitentiae (there 1702); Decisiones sacramentales theologicae canonicae et legales (Venice 1727); Discordiae forenses (there 1734); among other things, it deals with benefices and pensions; Via lactea, seu Institutiones Iuris canonici (there 1717).
