CLAUDIA de Angelis. — Mystic, born at Anagni in 1675, died in 1715. From her earliest years devoted to a life of piety and sacrifice, she was later drawn to Dominican spirituality and, having become a tertiary in 1700, took as her guide and model St. Catherine of Siena. After continual penances accompanied by divine visions, she came to suffer the pains of the Passion, with visible stigmata for 14 days. Denounced to the Holy Office and declared innocent, in 1699 she received the mystical ring of a spouse. She founded in Anagni the “Opera più della carità” for the instruction of young girls. The cause for her beatification has been introduced.
