COLLI MARCHINI, MICHELANGELO ALESSANDRO. — Baron, general, b. in Alessandria or Vigevano in 1756, d. in Piedmont in 1809. He was sent by Pius VI to defend his dominions against a further Jacobin advance.
Following the signing of the Peace of Tolentino (19 February), he joined the French army in 1798; on 15 August 1799 he was seriously wounded and fell prisoner to the Austrians. Having fallen into disgrace, he was removed from active service; in 1805 he resigned and withdrew into private life.
