COMPAGNIA DI SANT'ORSOLA. — Founded at Dôle in France in 1606 by the venerable Anna di Xaintonge, it had a common origin with similar companies that arose in the sixteenth century. It was approved by Innocent X in 1648. Since it did not join the Roman union of the Companies of St Ursula in 1927, the branch of Dôle has remained autonomous; its constitutions had been approved in 1847. The sisters devote themselves to the instruction and education of young people. It has 100 sisters and 10 houses.
