CORESSION, GIORGIO. — A dissident Greek theologian, b. at Chios in 1554 and d. about 1654. He attended the Universities of Pisa and Padua, practiced medicine at Livorno, and on returning to his homeland devoted himself to writing polemical works against the Latins. He was variously esteemed: some considered him a learned man, others judged him a vulgar slanderer. Legrand lists as many as 63 works by C. against the Latins.
