CORESSION, GIORGIO. – Dissident Greek theologian, b. at Chios in 1554 and d. around 1654. He attended the Universities of Pisa and Padua, practised medicine in Livorno and, having returned to his homeland, devoted himself to writing polemical works against the Latins. He was judged variously. Some considered him a learned man, while others instead judged him a vulgar calumniator. Legrand cites the titles of no fewer than 63 works by C. against the Latins.
