Corfinio (San Pelino)

CORFINIO (SAN PELINO). - On the Via Valeria in the territory of the Peligni. The passio Pelini or Peligni (BHL, 6620-21) was composed by a forger in the 11th century, who makes Pelinus an archbishop of Brindisi at the time of Julian the Apostate (360-63) and a martyr of C. Also entirely legendary and of the same period is the life of St. Pamphilus (BHL, 6418-19), who would likewise have been bishop of C. The only certain one is Gerontius, between the years 494-95 (Jaffé-Wattenbach, 648).
