CORFINIO (SAN PELINO). — On the Via Valeria in the land of the Peligni. The *Passio Pelini* or *Peligni* (BHL, 6620-21) was composed by a forger in the 11th century, who makes Pelinus an archbishop of Brindisi in the time of Julian the Apostate (360-63) and a martyr of C. Equally legendary and from the same period is the life of St. Pamphilus (BHL, 6418-19), who is said to have been bishop of C. The only certain figure is Gerontius, between the years 494-95 (Jaffé-Wattenbach, 648).
