CORNAGGIA-MEDICI CASTIGLIONI, CARLO OTTAVIO. - Senator, born in Milan on 6 Dec. 1851, died there on 10 Apr. 1905. Deputy for Milan in the 22nd and 23rd legislatures, he was appointed senator in 1904. Having graduated in law at Pavia, he immediately devoted himself to political activity by joining the Catholic movement, of which he became one of the most representative figures.
An advocate of an alliance with the right-wing liberals, he held many public offices in Milan, where he served as municipal councillor, assessor, provincial councillor, and president of the Ospedale Maggiore. Defeated in the elections for the 24th legislature, he did not stand again. He founded the newspaper La Lega Lombarda, which was later merged with L’Osservatore.
