CORRADINI, PIETRO MARCELLINO. - Cardinal, b. at Sezze in 1658, d. at Rome on 8 Feb. 1743. Of humble origin, he won in the Curia a reputation as an excellent jurist. He was auditor to Card. Pamphili, sub-datary under Innocent XII and subsequently under Clement XI. He was created cardinal by the latter on 18 May 1712, and in 1718 became prefect of the S. Congregation of the Council; he was entrusted with all the major affairs, which he always conducted with great integrity. He took part in the foundation of the hospital of S. Gallicano. In the Conclave of 1730 he was excluded from the papacy through the intervention of the king of Spain. He was the author of a Storia della città di Sezze and Vetus Latium profanum et sacrum (12 vols., Rome 1704–45).
From 25 Dec. 1734 he was bishop of Frascati; he was buried in S. Maria in Trastevere, where a fine monument was erected to him.
