CORRADO di RODENBERG. - Benedictine abbot, also known by the name of C. Barscerier, born at Rodenberg in an unknown year; died at Rheingau on 15 Dec. 1486. He was prior of S. Martino in Cologne, and then abbot of Johannisberg in Rheingau, a monastery belonging to the Union of Bursfeld. He was greatly praised for his piety and learning. As abbot he carried out
great reforming activity, so much so that he is numbered among the founders of the Congregation of Bursfeld.
The following works by him remain (still unpublished): Vinea Domini Sabaoth, a treatise in honour of the Virgin; Exercit. novitiorum liber, a small manual of formation in the interior life for novices and monks; it is a little work connected with the current of devotion that at that time became established among the Regular Canons of Windesheim and among the Carthusians; De praeparatione sacerdotis ad Missam; and three Orationes delivered by him at the Chapters of the Benedictine province of Cologne.
