CORTIVO, GIOVANNI BATTISTA. – Augustinian theologian, b. in Fiume in 1607, d. in Vienna in 1787.
Professor of theology and philosophy, and an uncommon polyglot, he distinguished himself chiefly through his expertise in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. Among his writings, the following should be mentioned: Dissertatio de divinis nominibus (Vienna 1754); Dissertatio de prodigio stationis solis et lunae imperante Iosue (there 1755); Lucubratio theologica Augustini exhibens dogma de status innocentiae dolibus (Graz 1762).
