CORTIVO, GIOVANNI BATTISTA. — Augustinian theologian, b. at Fiume in 1607, d. at Vienna in 1787.
Professor of theology and philosophy, an uncommon polyglot, he distinguished himself chiefly for his mastery of Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. Among his writings are to be noted: *Dissertazione de divinis nominibus* (Vienna 1754); *Dissertazione di teologia e di filosofia*, for which he wrote: *Vescovito* (in 1753); *L’incrocio della teologia Augustini, esibendo doma de status innocentiae dotibus* (Graz 1762).
