CRONICHETTA MENSUALE. - A distinctive scientific and popularizing periodical published in Roma from 1 Oct. 1866 to 1895 and edited successively by three members of the Armellini family: Abbé Pietro, a scientist (d. 1875), Prof. Tito (d. 1892), and Prof. Mariano Armellini (v.), a Christian archaeologist (d. 1896).
The first series, which bore the extensive title: C. m. delle più importanti moderne scoperte nelle scienze naturali e loro applicazioni alle arti ed industrie e commodi della vita e di altre invenzioni, and the second were predominantly scientific and technical in content; the latter included archaeological notices collected by Mariano Armellini. The third was restricted by the latter to archaeology and history alone. The periodical, small in format and size, was printed by various presses, lastly by the Vatican Press.
