CARMEN OF THE SEVEN MACCABEAN BROTHERS. — This poem of 394 scazons is handed down under the names of Marius Victorinus and Hilary of Arles. Peiper attributes it to another Hilary, a contemporary of the metropolitan Hilary of Arles. The text presupposes a narrative partly different from 2 Macc. 7 regarding the martyrdom of the seven brothers and their mother.
