DE PEYRINIS, LORENZO. — Minimo religious, born in Genoa in 1587, died there on 3 August 1638. An eminent canonist, specialized in the law of Religious Orders, and outstanding in ascetical theology. In the College of Jesus and Mary (also called that of S. Francesco di Paola) in Genoa, where he was regent of studies and professor, he founded a highly valuable library. After his death, a marble bust was erected to him.
Among his published works, the following are outstanding: De religioso subdito et praelato; Formularium praelatorum regularium, 3 vols. in-fol., 2nd ed., Piacenza 1639; Privilegia regularibus per summos Pontifices concessa, 3 volumes in-fol., 2nd ed., Venice 1643; Commentaria ascetica in Regulam FF. Ord. Minim., posthumous work, Genoa 1645.
