DELELOË, JEANNE de SAINT-MATTHIEU. - Benedictine mystic, b. in 1604 at Fauquembergues (diocese of Boulogne), entered in 1620 the monastery of the Benedictine nuns of her native town. In 1635 she fled because of the disorders of war and settled with ten sisters at Poperinghe (in Belgium), where she was prioress from 1637 and died on 13 April 1660.
A soul purified by many sufferings, D. received high mystical graces, which, by command of her spiritual director, she described in her autobiography (1646), in which she also reports her private revelations (Communications) that especially recommend the particular devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as St. Margaret Mary Alacoque later propagated it.
