DELELOË, JEANNE de SAINT-MATTHIEU. – Benedictine mystic, born in 1604 at Fauquembergues (diocese of Boulogne), she entered in 1620 the monastery of the Benedictine nuns in her native town. In 1635 she fled because of the disturbances of the war and settled with ten fellow sisters at Poperinghe (in Belgium), where she was prioress from 1637 and died on 13 April 1660.
An âme purified by many sufferings, D. received great mystical graces which, at the command of her spiritual director, she described in her autobiography (1646), in which she also relates her private revelations (Communications), which particularly recommend devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as it was later propagated by s. M. Margherite Alacoque.
