DELP, ALFRED. - Jesuit, b. 15 Sept. 1907 in Mannheim, d. 2 Feb. 1945 in Berlin. Having converted to the Catholic faith, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1926 and in 1939 became a contributor to Stimmen der Zeit, concerning himself above all with subjects of a social character.
Opposed to the National Socialist regime, in 1942 he found himself in contact with Helmuth von Moltke, around whom gravitated the opposition of the so-called Kreisau circle. Arrested after the 20 July 1944 attempt against Hitler, he was condemned to death in Jan. 1945 and executed a few weeks later. His articles in Stimmen der Zeit, his sermons and his diary were published by Father Bolkovac (Christ und Gegenwart, 3 vols., Frankfurt am Main 1949).
