DELP, ALFRED. - Jesuit, b. 15 Sept. 1907 at Mannheim, d. 2 Feb. 1945 at Berlin. Converted to the Catholic faith, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1926 and in 1939 became a contributor to Stimmen der Zeit, specializing especially in social topics.
Opposed to the National Socialist regime, in 1942 he came into contact with Helmuth von Moltke, around whom gravitated the opposition of the so-called Kreisau Circle. Arrested after the 20 July 1944 attempt on Hitler’s life, he was sentenced to death in 1945 and executed a few weeks later. His articles in Stimmen der Zeit, his sermons, and his diary were published by Fr. Bolkovac (Christ und Gegenwart, 3 vols., Frankfurt am Main 1949).
