DIDASKALEION. - Journal founded in 1912 by the Salesian Paolo Ubaldi. The program, indicated by the subtitle Studies in the philosophy of ancient Christian literature, was, as was explained in the presentation, to "promote the study of Christian literatures in general, and in particular of the Greek-Latin one," exclusively from the aesthetic and philological point of view.
It was published by the Libreria (later Società) Editrice Internazionale in Turin. Suspended in 1917, it was resumed, in a new series, in 1923, with a considerably expanded program, as the new subtitle Studies in ancient Christian literature and history announced, still under the direction of Ubaldi, with the Salesians Sisto Colombo and Paolo Barale as editors through 1925 inclusive, and thereafter Colombo alone. The new series also carried bibliographical bulletins on Greek-Latin Christian literature and related subjects. In 1925 it became an organ of studies aggregated and annexed to the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the Catholic University, where Ubaldi had been transferred. It ceased publication at the end of 1931. The "D." also had its own "Library," which collected 6 studies already published in the journal.
