DRISDALE RIVER, MISSION. — This is an autonomous mission detached from the apostolic vicariate of Kimberley in Western Australia and established by decree of 4 May 1910 for the evangelization of the Aboriginal peoples. As early as 1908, the Benedictines of New Norcia had founded II. Approximately five priests have always worked there. During the last war, the mission was bombed and suffered serious damage.
