Durando d'Aurillac (Durandello)

DURANDO D'AURILLAC (DURANDELLO). - French Dominican of the 13th-14th century. He completed his studies in the famous convent of St. James, in Paris. At the General Chapter of the Order, held at Utrecht in 1300, he was charged with lecturing there on the Sentences; subsequently he held the mastership in theology at the University. He belongs to the current of the Thomists and rose up (1332-1334) particularly against his confrere Durandus of St. Pourçain.

Attributed to D. are: Scripta in IV libros Sententiarum; two Quodlibeta, which we do not know; Liber contra Durandum, seu Evidentiae reprobantes Durandum in his, in quibus impugnat s. Thomam; Corruptorium Corruptorii; both unpublished and of disputed attribution.
